Hovimäki Manor
Hovimäki Manor, now known as Enonkosken Kartano, was built by the Tichanoff family in 1854. Over the decades, the building has developed a rich and varied history. The Manor was originally built to provide accommodation for the office staff and customers of the water-powered sawmill, and exemplary livestock farming was also practised there. Hovimäki had a large cowshed, and the building was also home to the first telephone in the locality.
The Manor later served, among other things, as a residential building, a forestry office and a municipal care home, until a local restaurateur purchased the building in the 1980s and established a hotel and restaurant there. A new era brought with it an inn, a riverside park and summer events. The appearance of the place remained unchanged for decades until the previous tourism and restaurant entrepreneurs (2019-2022) renovated the Manor. The Manor is now undergoing its second major transformation of the 21st century, and tourism and restaurant operations will continue there in the future, with respect for the history of the place.
